We had Cutter's Echocardiogram done yesterday and the results are good. He is being diagnosed with Aortic Vavle Stenosis. We will recheck it at 12 months, and every year after that, to make sure that the narrowing is not getting smaller. It is very common in first born, type A males. It also should not effect his ability to play sports, if he chooses to do so.
We were very pleased to see that everything looked good. The Cardiologist spent a good 2 hours looking at everything. Cutter was very patient and let the doctor do what he needed to do for about the first 45 minutes, after that Cutter wanted to play with the machine and such. So the doctor took a break and I was able to put Cutter to sleep. While he was asleep the Doctor came back in and finished the rest of the exam. Once I found out that everything was ok, I was able to relax and be mesmerized to see his heart pumping and doing what it needed to do. What an amazing muscle!
Cutter is responding very well to the breathing treatments, we will continue to do them until Monday, when we go back in for a follow-up.
He is such a sweet little boy and we feel so blessed to have him in our life. Sometimes, I think, it takes eye openers like this to bring you back down to reality and remind you not to take life for granted.
